ParkBooker Pick

We don’t think we’ve seen an Ensuite Site anywhere near as nice as the Premium Ensuite Sites here. Recently built, these modern oversized ensuites include showers with a rain shower head, toilet and large sink and vanity which gives you the feeling of a touch of luxury whilst keeping all the other aspects you love of your caravan or camping experience. From a location perspective they are on the opposite side of the park to major shared facilities which are roughly five minutes walk away, but this does mean it is one of the more peaceful pockets of the park.

Pricing

Unpowered Sites from $44 per night, Powered Sites from $46 per night, Ensuite Powered Sites from $59 per night, Cabins from $144 per night.

Eat & Drink

There’s plenty on offer within the park if you’ve brought your own provisions thanks to a large and well stocked Camp Kitchen as well as multiple BBQ areas dotted throughout. Additionally, there is a Kiosk & Cafe/Restaurant on site that is fully licensed and offers delicious cocktails to go along with pizzas, burgers and other resort classics. Downtown Cairns is approximately 15 minutes drive away and the Esplanade Boardwalk is worth a stroll along to see what takes your fancy. A cold drink and classic pub meal at Rattle N Hum is always a safe bet, or if you’re looking for a drink with a view then head to Oak & Vine, located on the rooftop of the Oaks Hotel. For something a little closed by, take a left out of the main entrance and about 300m away you’ll find Baked on Red Hill. This bakery is great for a sweet treat and a coffee in the morning, or one of their famous meat pies or sausage rolls at any time of the day your heart desires.

To Do List

There’s no shortage of fun to be had within the park, particularly for kids. With multiple pools and a waterpark, mini golf, tennis courts and more, they will be running around all day long. It’s worth noting that anything that needs equipment is available for hire from reception without a cost, you’ll just need to leave a deposit. If you happen to be here on a Friday or Saturday night, there will likely be a movie showing out on the big screen next to the tennis courts which is a great way to end the day. Cairns itself is of course one of the gateway towns to the Great Barrier Reef and we highly recommend joining a tour to explore this incredible natural wonder. Quicksilver Cruises are a large company which means travelling in big groups on a big boat, but they offer a fantastic all round day trip to the outer barrier reef including snorkelling, presentations from a marine biologist, fish feeding and even coral tours on semi-submersible vessels. If you are inclined toward a smaller, more boutique experience, we highly recommend Seastar Cruises. The tour is well worth the extra cost for the fact alone that they are one of the few tour operators who visit the incredible Michaelmas Cay.

Heads Up

The Unpowered Sites here are smaller and for camping only, so if you are bringing a vehicle to stay in, make sure you book a Powered Site.
