Eat & Drink
The main strip of shops and restaurants is 2.5 km away but handily, the park has a fantastic On Site Cafe which serves up great coffee and a range of delicious takeaway meals and ice cream. Additionally, the Camp Kitchen and BBQ area are both well supplied and maintained. If you are keen to make the short trip over to the town centre then Malt & Honey is a fantastic spot for coffee and breakfast, we love the Eggs Benedict and the kids enjoy the occasional treat of Waffles & Ice cream. For dinner, Chop 'n Chill is an interesting spot with both an American BBQ style menu and an Asian inspired menu. The pulled pork sliders are delicious! For a counter meal and a drink with a view, the Surf Lifesaving Club is always a solid option.
To Do List
It’s well worth the short drive over to visit the Smokey Cape Lighthouse. Built in 1891, it’s one of the oldest lighthouses in Australia and offers a great view over the ocean. If you’re keen to explore the National Park then whilst you’re over at the lighthouse head out on the Smoky Cape Walking Track, a 4.4 km track where you’ll get a sense for the dense local rainforest and spectacular views over the cape. When it’s time for a swim outside of the pool, Saltwater Lagoon is the nearest spot, a flat body of water that can be accessed through the park. There are multiple beaches in the region and the most popular is Horseshoe Bay which is sheltered and generally has gentle waves. No matter what your favourite on water activity is, from surfing to fishing to kayaks & SUPs, there will be somewhere at South West Rocks. For the golfers, South West Rocks Country Club is less than five minutes drive away and offers a relatively flat 18 hole course that is open to the public.
Heads Up
There are some Villas and Powered Sites located quite close to the pool area which gets active from early in the morning, particularly in School Holiday periods. If you like to sleep in, be sure to request a different room or site. South West Rocks has a limited number of shops and restaurants but they’re a 5 minute drive or 30 minute walk away.
