Eat & Drink
This is the sort of place we like to come to well-stocked to avoid spending too much time away from the property and instead enjoy relaxing in the tranquil surroundings. The Camp Kitchen has been recently renovated and whilst remaining relatively basic, more than does the job and has a great seating area. There are also several BBQs dotted throughout the park. The on-site cafe is a favourite, open for breakfast and lunch serving a range of daily specials as well as burgers, fish and chips and of course coffee and tea. We particularly enjoyed the Barramundi Burger on our last visit. If you haven’t brought provisions or are keen to explore the nearby area, the town of Killarney is approximately 15 minutes away by car. Here you’ll find a couple of Cafes (Killarney’s Top Shop is our favourite) as well as a Foodworks where you can stock up on groceries.
To Do List
The park is notable for its native birdlife, mainly king parrots and crimson rosellas. You’ll likely spot them throughout your stay, they are very tame and always happy to be fed from your hand which the kids particularly love. Several other native animals make this area their home, and if you go for a wander around sunrise or sunset you are likely to see kangaroos and sugar gliders. There are several great hikes in the area and a trip here would not be complete without a visit to the actual Queen Mary Falls. Located just across the road from the park you’ll find the entrance to a picnic which is the start of a circuit that runs for roughly 2km, highlighted by visiting these stunning 40m falls. We recommend taking the circuit in a clockwise direction as it is slightly easier than the alternative. If you have a 4WD there are some great tracks in the area including several river crossings. Have a chat with the team at reception to get some advice on the best routes depending on the conditions that day.
Heads Up
There’s no WiFi available here and very limited mobile reception no matter which network you are with, so come prepared to enjoy the peace of being disconnected.
