Eat & Drink
Our favourite restaurant is Sunago, who offer classic Greek fare in a bustling atmosphere. Make sure you bring an appetite, with a sharing driven menu we think it's the sort of place to come along with as big of a group as possible for a chance to try as much as you can on the menu. The slow-roasted lamb is always a crowd pleaser and you’ll never find us starting a meal here without ordering some saganaki. There’s several pubs across both Echuca and Moama but our favourite is the American Hotel. On a sunny day, the rooftop bar is one of our favourite spots for a cold drink, and any time of the year their menu of pub classics goes down well. There’s plenty of space and a great kids menu so don’t hesitate to bring the whole family along. Bar Lee located at the Echuca Distillery is a great spot to visit and sample some of the spirits from this local producer. They’re known for their Gin, but also make Agave, Vodka and Whisky. The bar brings these to life with a range of interesting cocktails and mixers. We recommend having a chat to a bartender about your preferences and letting them make a recommendation. Every second Saturday (starting with the first Saturday of the month), the Echuca Farmers Market operates on Aquatic Reserve. Make sure you head down on an empty stomach as to go with the delicious produce you can take home, there’s plenty of freshly cooked food to eat at the market.
To Do List
With its peaceful riverfront location, lakes within the park and lush greenery, we find this a great park to just relax in and only making the occasional trip to town for a meal or a wander around. That said, if you’re after a bit more action there’s plenty to do and see in this area. A great way to experience this beautiful river area whilst also enjoying some nostalgic charm is aboard a classic Paddlesteamer Boat. Murray River Paddlesteamers have a variety of options, ranging from pure sightseeing cruises through to lunches and dinners. If you’ve got golfers in your group, make sure to visit nearby Rich River Country Club, home to two 18-hole championship golf courses and accessible to the public.
Heads Up
Located in a serene pocket with the Murray River winding around it means that this isn’t the best park if you’re wanting to access town on foot. It’s roughly 4 km to Moama or 6 km to Echuca, an easy trip by car or bike.
