ParkBooker Pick

The Prime Powered Waterfront Sites occupy the front row of the park looking directly over the beach and are our favourites when visiting. Site allocation will depend on the size of your set up, but we particularly like sites 195-200 which occupy a quiet corner of the park with easy access to the beach access path.

Eat & Drink

For our morning caffeine hit we love the Ginger and Blondie Coffee Bar, set up out of a van in a block on nearby Hitchcock Avenue. Note they are only open Thursday to Sunday. Starfish Bakery is a favourite for breakfast or lunch. We’re a big fan of the classic Bacon & Egg Roll with HP sauce at breakfast, or go for one of the rotating muffin specials if we are after something lighter. For the more health conscious, the Seeded Pumpkin Bowl served with a blend of honey, house made almond butter and plenty of seeds alongside a chopped salad & house made beetroot hummus is always popular. The park is located less than 100m from the Barwon Heads Hotel, a famed coastal pub that serves up consistent bistro fare and has one of our favourite beer gardens, looking out over the river. During the summer holidays there’s often food trucks on site, be sure to check with the team when you arrive if there will be any there during your stay.

To Do List

Directly in front of the park is the Barwon River, a beautiful spot for a swim or to get out on a kayak or SUP. The calm waters make it an ideal spot for younger kids to go for a swim. If you’re looking for a surf beach you don’t have to go far, with 13th beach located no more than 5 minutes drive away. Of course in this part of the world you’re spoiled for choice with some of the world’s most famous surf beaches dotted along the coast. Golf enthusiasts are in the right place with both the Barwon Heads Golf Club and world class 13th Beach Golf Course nearby. Whilst the park isn’t overflowing with resort style facilities, there’s a playground, tennis courts, basketball court and a large oval offering plenty of space for kids to run around in and stay entertained. If you happen to be here on the last Saturday of the month the Barwon Heads Market is worth a visit to explore a range of great crafts and produce.

Heads Up

Whilst the park is on the larger side it is set out with several small roads and nooks which give the feeling of privacy but it does mean you can easily get lost.
