Eat & Drink

This is a quiet coastal town so we recommend coming well stocked with provisions and making use of the well maintained facilities within the park. If you are keen to explore the area, a short walk away you’ll find the Wye Beach Hotel, a classic Australian coastal pub with an expansive deck looking out over the ocean. There is of course cold beers and classic pub fare, but also a menu of some other interesting mains taking inspiration from across the world but particularly India. The Curry Of The Day is always a fantastic choice, or if you’re wanting to stick to the pub classics it’s hard to go past the Beer Battered Fish and Chips in a location like this. Also a short walk away you’ll find Wye General Store, a great place to stock up on provisions but also selling fantastic coffee, baked goods, interesting local wines and a delicious rotating menu of brunch and lunch classics with a twist. If you’re keen to make the trip over to Lorne (roughly thirty minutes drive away) there’s an abundance of food and beverage options and we think if you’re making a drive like this it's to head to a destination venue. For us that’s Ipsos, serving up incredible Greek Fare in the heart of Lorne’s main street.

To Do List

In such a peaceful and relaxing location like this there’s no harm in keeping the To Do List very brief and simply enjoying the beautiful natural surroundings. Across the road from the park you’ll find Wye River Surf Beach, a great spot for a surf or a swim amongst the waves but do note that it is only patrolled in the holiday seasons. If you’re keen to learn to surf, we highly recommend the team at Go Ride A Wave Surf School who have several locations across this stretch of coastline and beyond. When it's time to get the heart pumping and the legs moving, there are several fantastic hikes and walks in the area although they definitely lean toward the more challenging side. Our pick is the Wye River to Jamieson Track, a 14.6 km return trip which you’ll need to put aside at least half a day for if you want to attempt the full route. There’s firm footing underneath but it is long and can be steep at times, you will however be rewarded with incredible views across the ocean as you walk through lush forest.

Heads Up

Whilst there is a small general store and a pub in the town of Wye River, it’s a quiet place and you’re likely going to need to head to nearby Lorne if you need to pick up supplies or are keen for some more activity shops & restaurant wise. Though it is less than a 30 minute drive away, it’s a particularly windy road and not a trip you’ll be wanting to make too frequently, particularly if you get dizzy easily!
