Eat & Drink
The park is located at the northern end of Belongil Beach which is 25 minutes walk from the main street of Byron, but less than 10 minutes on foot and you’ll find yourself at the up and coming Byron Arts & Industrial Estate. Here there’s a few interesting options, Masa is our go to for breakfast and great coffee in the mornings, then once you’ve worked up a different sort of thirst make sure you visit the famous Stone & Wood Brewery. Here you’ll get to choose from a range of beers across their core and limited release ranges, as well as enjoy food from local hospitality group 100 Mile Table. In the same area you’ll find Kouzina, a great spot for a Greek feast and warm hospitality. You’ll no doubt journey into the Byron Town Centre at times, and be sure to get there late afternoon or before dinner and pull up a spot at The Beach Hotel to enjoy a cold drink and some of the best views in town at what many consider Australia’s most picturesque pub. A short stroll away you’ll then find The Balcony Bar & Oyster Co. tucked away on a balcony. Here you’ll enjoy fresh seafood, great cocktails (try the Spiked Agua Fresca - a delicious blend of Don Julio Reposado, Watermelon & Mint Shrub, Lime and Agave) and of course, oysters.
To Do List
This is an area all about beaches and there’s plenty to choose from, whether you’re keen to surf or swim. Nearby Belongil Beach is great or if you head up to the town centre, Byron Bay Main Beach and Clarke’s Beach both have a bit of everything. If you’re keen specifically to surf then we recommend a short drive up to The Pass, and for those who want to take in the most picturesque water in the area, head to Wategos Beach which is ideal for families thanks to its protected waters. When you’re keen to get the heart pumping on dry land, make the walk up to the Lighthouse which includes beautiful views over the ocean. Whilst known for its coastal beauty, the hinterland in the Byron region is equally stunning and we highly recommend a visit to Killen Falls to take in the natural beauty of this hinterland gem and go for a swim.
Heads Up
Byron Bay is a big town and whilst this park sits just near the beach, you’re about 25 minutes walk from “downtown” Byron. Accommodation wise, not all Unpowered Sites are available for vehicles, with those in the ‘Small’ and ‘Medium’ categories being for camping only. If you’re wanting to take your Caravan or Motorhome on an Unpowered Site, make sure you book ‘Large’.
