Eat & Drink
Cape Paterson is a quiet town, but there’s still a few options if you’re keen to head out for a beverage or a meal. Start your morning by making the short walk up to Zeal and Flow, a multi-purpose space that sells beautiful homewares, hosts yoga and massage treatments and also happens to serve some of the best coffee on this stretch of coastline. The Cape Tavern is a classic pub and the counter-meals are always good quality. It’s an easy walk from the park. There’s plenty of great wine made in this area, and one of our favourite producers is Dirty Three Wines. You’ll find their cellar door not sitting on a vineyard, but instead in the nearby town of Inverloch, just 15 minutes drive away. They offer wine tastings and a small lunch menu designed around great snacks and sharing plates to go with the wine.
To Do List
There are lots of activities to do here at the beach, which are split between the two beaches, the Bay Beach and the Surf Beach. The Bay Beach is directly outside the Holiday Park and easily accessed by walking paths. This is a calm and protected beach and great for a swim no matter your age. You’ll also find a man made rockpool here which is great for a dip or if you’ve brought your snorkel, a great spot to explore along the surrounding rock platform area. The surf beach is a short walk up the road and a better spot if you want to get out for a surf, the waves are moderate here so whilst as always it's important to exercise caution, don’t be intimidated by giving this beach a visit. If it’s not beach weather there’s still plenty to do within the park, it’s a great spot just to put the feet up and relax but kids will remain entertained thanks to a Jumping Pillow and a Games Room.
Heads Up
There aren’t a whole lot of shops in Cape Paterson, but if you do need to stock up on any supplies the town of Wonthaggi will likely have most everything you need and is only a 10 minute drive away.
