Dolphins Point Tourist Park, Dolphin Point

Spacious sites and beach house style cabins uniquely located with absolute water frontage on a lake that feeds over to to the beach.

First Impressions
In a location that was just off the highway, we weren’t sure what to expect but upon arrival we immediately felt like we were miles away from anything. After making our way through the gates and greeting reception, a short wander up to our cabin and we realised the stunning location we were in being greeted by a huge body of water. We must note that technically, this is situated on a lake, but given it is right at the mouth of the beach it very much feels like and has the geography of a beach, without the waves. The park has several permanent sites which could be confusing at first glance however these are not part of the tourist accommodation offering, almost all of which is actually at the water side of the park sitting right on the lake and wrapping slightly around the edges.

The Offering
Choose from both Powered and Unpowered Sites for your tent or vehicle, several of which sit on lush grass looking right out over the water. If you’re after a Cabin, there are 16 unique ones to choose from, 14 of which are waterfront. Most of the waterfront Cabins have beautiful oversized decks sitting of course on the ocean side of the cabin. Given the dimensions of the park, even if you aren’t in a waterfront site or cabin you are never more than 50 metres away from the water. Beyond basic bathrooms, there isn’t much else here from a facilities perspective.

Our Digs
A cabin for us this time and we were in “The Sands”. This is the cosiest of the cabins on offer that sleeps two people, yet still feels spacious thanks to the clever open plan design. You aren’t spending much time inside anyway when you have an expansive deck sitting right over the beach.

You’ll Drive Back For
A unique location with absolute water frontage on a lake feeding into the ocean, we’re yet to see another park quite like it.

The Drive
Most likely one with some stops along the way, but here are the three nearest major cities:

Canberra - 231km

Sydney - 231km

Melbourne - 833km

Worth The Drive?

Well maintained facilities and a particularly unique cabin offering in a park where waterfront sites (for both cabins and vehicles) are the norm rather than the exception. Ticks plenty of boxes. Worth the drive.
