Eat & Drink

The Mornington Peninsula has an abundance of incredible wineries to suit all tastes, most of which are located in the Red Hill region approximately 15-30 minutes drive from the park. If we’ve got the kids with us one of our favourites is Montalto, it has a beautiful restaurant indoors but the outdoor “Piazza” area is a fantastic casual alternative where drinks are available from the bar, and pizzas and share plates are the focus from a food perspective. For a fine dining experience, Laura at Point Leo Estate is our favourite and often a go to venue for special occasions. It's well worth arriving early to take a walk through the 330 acre sculpture park that features works from several prominent artists. For something closer to the park, on a takeaway night we’re always tossing up between pizza from SiS.Co or fish and chips from Hector's. SiSCo usually wins out thanks to its delicious woodfired pizzas but both are great options.

To Do List

Rye Beach is a beautiful spot for a swim, with its turquoise waters shimmering in the sun on clear days. This entire side of the peninsula sits in a protected bay so it's the perfect spot to take little ones from a swim. Given its calm waters, it's also a great spot to take out a kayak or SUP. If you’re chasing surf, you’ll need to make the short drive to the back beach and we recommend St Andrew’s Beach. When it's time for a spa day, there’s two options nearby, the classic Peninsula Hot Springs or the recently built Alba Thermal Springs. Both are fantastic but we love to splash out on the occasional treatment at Alba, it's a blissfully relaxing setting with incredible modern architecture. Each of the towns along this stretch of coast have their own charm and it's well worth hopping in the car and making the drive along the coast to Portsea where you’ll go through Blairgowrie and Sorrento on your way. We recommend stopping anywhere along your way that takes your fancy. Sorrento is great if you’re looking for somewhere with an abundance of shops and cafes, and we love the beach walks in Portsea, particularly along Shelley Beach. For something a bit different that the kids will love, the nearby town of Dromana is home to one of the last Drive-In Cinemas in the state and is a great activity on a warm summer night.

Heads Up

We love the retro caravans but do note that none of them have their own toilet and only one comes with a bathroom and shower. That said, the common amenities are recently renovated, modern, and always exceptionally clean.
