Eat & Drink
There’s no better way to start a day than a great cup of coffee, and just 600m from the park you’ll find Wild Ryes, one of our favourite cafes and bakeries on the Sapphire Coast. Operating two businesses - a Bakery and a Roastery, you’ll find amazing fresh bread, baked classics (one of the best croissants we have had) as well as some more innovative sweet and savoury treats taking inspiration from around the world, all washed down with a delicious coffee. If you’re down at Pambula Beach, we love Aqua. Operating as a kiosk throughout the day, this unsuspecting spot also serves up fantastic cocktails and given its beachfront location it is a must-visit come sunset. We love getting a carafe of their Sangria and knowing that if hunger strikes earlier than expected we can order a pizza or one of their several sharing plates to snack on. If you do hang around for dinner, there's plenty of other options that all lean more casual (think Fish and Chips or Burgers), but do note that things close up by around 7pm. If you’re keen to stay on site, the camp kitchen and BBQs aren’t anything out of the ordinary in terms of quality, but both are well maintained and will more than do the job.
To Do List
Thanks to its unique geography of being where the river meets the sea, Pambula is home to some spectacular, vibrant turquoise waters and a beautiful, sandy beach. Jiguma (Lions) Beach is our favourite spot for a swim or simply reading a book on the sand. It's in a beautiful location where Pambula beach meets the river, as an added bonus, it’s also dog-friendly. There’s some great walks and hikes in the area, just a 15 minute drive away you’ll find the entrance to the beautiful Pinnacles Loop track. This gentle loop through part of Beowa National Park does have some stairs and rolling hills but is altogether relatively easy. You’ll see plenty of native plants and trees, and the highlight of the loop is “The Pinnacles”, a spectacular natural rock feature that has been formed by erosion over time and combines soft white sand with vibrant red gravelly clay.
Heads Up
This isn’t a park that offers any cabin or villa accommodation, so if you’re visiting make sure you come with your own tent or vehicle to sleep in.
