Eat & Drink
For some delicious local produce which you can pick up when you’re getting provisions combined with the best coffee in town, head straight to Sprout, a local cafe/grocer hybrid serving up tasty breakfast and lunch options and coffee from ONA. For classic pub fare or a cold drink with a view, The Great Southern Inn is the place to go. A salt-of-the-earth pub sporting an expansive deck with beautiful views over the bay, this is the sort of place that has stood the test of time and could not change for another 100 years and still be as popular as it is today.
To Do List
Eden is an historically significant town for its part in Australia’s whaling history, and we highly recommend a visit to the Killer Whale Museum. Originally built to house the skeleton of the Orca “Old Tom”, this is now a great spot to learn all about Australia’s Whaling, Timber and Fishing history. If you’re keen to get to work up a sweat and explore more of nature, nearby Beowa National Park is known for its walking routes along the coast where you can enjoy the beauty of several natural rock formations, a highlight of which is “The Pinnacles” - a spectacular natural rock feature that has been formed by erosion over time and combines soft white sand with vibrant red gravelly clay. During migration season from May to November, there are various platforms within the park that offer a great chance to spot whales breaching out in the ocean.
Heads Up
If you’re willing to go for an Unpowered Site, you’ll have a good chance to be rewarded with a prime position right on the edge of the beautiful Curalo Lagoon.
