Crystal Waters: The 5 Most Picturesque Beaches On The NSW South Coast

Australia is a nation known for its incredible beaches, and somehow the south coast of NSW consistently flies under the radar despite multiple beautiful beaches, including one that we think might just be the best in the world.

Australia is a nation known for its incredible beaches, and somehow the South Coast of NSW consistently flies under the radar compared to its more popular relations up north. We can assure you, this is a region that is overflowing with beautiful beaches, including one that we think might just be the best in the world. Here are our top five.

1. HYAMS BEACH: JERVIS BAY AREA

Frequently talked about amongst the most beautiful beaches in the world, the squeaky white sands and crystal blue waters of Hyams Beach are simply breathtaking. Easily accessed with a short walk through a bushland path from the car park, you will be in awe when you first catch a glimpse of this incredible natural beauty. It can get busy, but if you go early in the morning you’re every chance to have the beach to yourself which is an incredible experience.

Where to find it: Cyrus St, Hyams Beach NSW

2. HORSESHOE BAY: BERMAGUI

Located in the heart of Bermagui, this beach is a family favourite with a grassy foreshore leading down to a (you guessed it) horseshoe shaped sandy bay with gentle waves. It’s a great spot to grab a coffee or some takeaway from one of the many shops walking distance away and just take in the incredible view over the bay to Gulaga National Park or of course, go for a swim.

Where to find it: Lamont St, Bermagui NSW

3. NELSON BEACH: NELSON

Another spectacular beach with aquamarine waters and white sands, Nelson Beach is lesser known and avoids the crowds of some of the other beaches in the region. Keep your eyes peeled for both koalas and wallabies that live in the National Park that sits next to the beach.

Where to find it: Nelson Beach Rd, Nelson NSW

4. HONEYMOON BAY: JERVIS BAY AREA

We know we’re doubling up on beaches in the Jervis Bay area, but when it is home to some of the very best in the world it would be wrong not to include multiple. Honeymoon Bay. This small sheltered bay with incredible blue waters is a peaceful spot to relax and home to a vibrant marine life if you’re up for some snorkelling. Note that as this land is owned by the Royal Australian Navy, visiting is only possible on weekends.

Where to find it: Lighthouse Rd & Currarong Roads, Currarong NSW

5. PEBBLY BEACH: DURRAS NORTH

A more rugged landscape here but nonetheless still incredibly beautiful. The beach is beautiful, but we think the highlight is the beach Eastern Grey Kangaroos that frequently visit. Kangaroos on a beautiful beach surrounded by national park - is there a more quintessentially Australian scene?

Where to find it: Pebbly Beach Access Rd, Pebbly Beach NSW
