Within the park both the BBQ area and Camp Kitchen are well looked after and a great option if you’ve brought your own provisions. Additionally, you’ll find the “Tropical Treats Cafe”, a food truck within the park that offers coffee, breakfast and dinner depending on the season. Check with reception on arrival if they’re operating whilst you’re there, at our last visit there was daily breakfast as well as a Pizza night and Fish and Chips night over the weekend.
If you’re wanting to eat outside of the resort, your best bet is to make the less than ten minute drive to the nearby town of Airlie Beach where you'll find a wide variety of venues. Berry & Maple Patisserie is our go to for a morning coffee and one of their many delicious sweet treats. Don’t worry if you’re travelling with someone who doesn’t have a sweet tooth, the Bacon & Egg roll is as good as any of the pastries.
Come dinner time, our favourite spot to enjoy fresh local seafood is Fish D’Vine. The barramundi is wild caught a bit further north at Cape York and always hits the spot, or if you’re keen to splash out a little go for the Seafood Platter for Two, a towering feast of bugs, local wild prawns, oysters, Tasmanian smoked salmon, ocean scallops, crispy battered local fish and more.
A unique location sitting right amongst Conway National Park but less than 10 minutes drive to the Whitsunday coastal hub town of Airlie Beach, this park is the perfect base for exploring this region that is famed for its on water activities, but just as exciting for what you can find on land.
There are several great trails in the Conway National Park, if you have it in you we highly recommend the journey up to Honeyeater Lookout. This is a relatively challenging walk that is all uphill, and we recommend driving to the starting point at Kara Crescent which is closer to the town. If you’d prefer just to explore the National Park area closer to your accommodation, chat to reception about your best options.
When it comes to on water activities, the Whitsundays are a truly incredible region, and we think your best bet is to head down to the marina and explore the various tours on offer and choose what takes your fancy. If you’re only going to do one thing, then you must visit Whitehaven Beach. Approximately 1-hour boat ride from Airlie Beach, this idyllic island paradise is famous for its impossible-to-describe soft white sand and crystal clear waters. We prefer joining a smaller boat and group for the optimal experience and can highly recommend the team at Whitehaven Xpress. Their tour is the perfect length allowing you to enjoy 5 hours on the island exploring, swimming and indulging in a delicious beach BBQ. Beyond Whitehaven, there’s various other islands to explore as well as snorkelling, watersports, fishing charters and more - you’re sure to find a tour in the Whitsundays that suits your preferences.
Whilst the park sits directly next to the small Shute Harbor airport, there are limited commercial planes serving this airport so noise is not an issue.
