For a morning coffee, the best bet is to make the 10 minute walk to The River Cafe Nelligan, a cracking local breakfast and lunch spot overlooking the Clyde River. Whilst our preference is to sip a flat white, watching boats cruise past, there’s a full menu of pies, sandwiches and salads made fresh to order. 

For lunch or dinner, make the 10-minute drive into Batemans Bay and head to Sam’s Pizza on the Waterfront. Sitting right on the promenade, this local favourite does wood-fired pizzas and hearty pasta dishes. If you’re there for dinner, time it around sunset - it’s one of the best views in town. Our go-to order is the pesto prawn pizza, but the Jojo’s with crispy prosciutto is also a crowd pleaser. It’s licensed, but you can also BYO.

If you're after something more casual or travelling with kids, Malua Bay Bowling Club is just 20 minutes away and offers great value. They run regular specials and have a reliable bistro menu – think schnitzels, burgers, and fish and chips - plus a kids’ play area to keep the little ones entertained.

Back at the park, you’ll find everything you need to cook up your own meals. There’s a well-equipped Camp Kitchen and BBQs dotted throughout the grounds, perfect for a laid-back dinner under the stars.

Nature lovers and curious wanderers will want to carve out time for the Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Gardens, located just 15 minutes from the park. These beautifully maintained gardens showcase native flora from across the region and are a peaceful spot for a picnic, bushwalk, or a quiet morning with a coffee from the on-site café. There’s a sensory garden, birdwatching opportunities, and seasonal events including guided walks and workshops. Open Wednesday to Sunday, and daily during school holidays - admission is free.

During summer, Clyde River Berry Farm is a must. Open seasonally (usually December to early February), this hands-on experience lets you pick your own blueberries, raspberries, and other delights straight from the bush. It’s a great stop for families or anyone keen to enjoy a true taste of the South Coast. The drive out is scenic too, with views of lush farmland and winding river bends.

For something a little wilder, Mogo Wildlife Park is around 25 minutes away and home to some of the rarest animals in the world. Expect everything from rhinos and lions through to squirrel monkeys and red pandas. The park runs daily keeper talks and up-close experiences (including the chance to feed a giraffe or meet a meerkat) and is surprisingly immersive for a regional zoo. It’s especially popular with kids but just as enjoyable for adults.

If you’re chasing an adrenaline rush, Ocean Jet Boating departs from Batemans Bay and delivers exactly what it promises: a fast, thrilling ride out into the open ocean. Expect twists, turns, and plenty of spray — all while spotting marine life like dolphins or seals if you're lucky. Trips run most days, weather permitting, and bookings are essential.

During school holidays the park puts on an outdoor family movie night, with popcorn and blankets on the lawn making it a cosy way to wind down the evening.
