If you’re keen to make the most of the facilities there’s multiple BBQs dotted throughout the park, or if you want someone else to be doing the work then head to the pool bar or cafe also located within the park. If you make the short journey into the main town located on Yamba Beach, you’ll find the Pacific Hotel, an iconic coastal pub serving up cold drinks and pub classics. For something closer to the park, a short walk away along the river you’ll find the Clarence River Fishermen’s Cooperative, the best spot in town for fish and chips.
This is a park where you could not leave for a week and the kids wouldn’t blink an eye thanks to the abundance of entertainment and great facilities. They’ll love the multiple resort style swimming pools and water park, whilst parents get the chance to wind back whilst still keeping an eye on the kids thanks to a pool bar. Outside of the park, there’s plenty of other options swimming wise. For the kids, we recommend sticking to the shallower waters of the Main Beach, and for those looking for a bit more surf then head to Turner’s Beach. For something a bit different swimming wise, What was once a quarry became a swimming pool when the miners hit a snag in the form of drilling into underground freshwater springs in what is known as the Angourie Pools. For thrill-seekers, there’s plenty of opportunities to jump off rocks or cliffs safely into these waters that are 10-15m deep, the majority of these are found at the green pools. If you’ve got fishermen or women amongst you, you’re in the right place - head to any number of spots at the mouth of the Clarence River and you’ll be able to find Flathead, Mulloway and Rock Blackfish. If you’re keen to get out on the ocean, there’s plenty more to explore with various charters launching from Yamba - we highly recommend the team at Go Fish Yamba, a local family owned and operated charter group.
Summer in Yamba is all about family fun — long beach days, kids on the slides, and evenings spent by the river. It’s a lively time to visit and perfect for making memories together. If you prefer things a little slower, spring and autumn offer the same sunshine with a calmer pace.
