The township of Eildon is located about 5 minutes drive away from the park, and whilst small has plenty to offer. The Eildon Bakery Cafe is our go to for our morning coffee, of course accompanied by a delicious treat from this classic country bakery.
Located over the other side of town, sitting on the water you’ll find The Bistro at the Eildon Boat Club, our favourite spot for a meal. It occupies a prime elevated position over Lake Eildon. You can enjoy a high quality bistro fare here or just pop by for a drink 7 days a week during peak periods, and on Fridays and Saturdays outside of that. They also serve breakfast on the weekends.
Camp Kitchen and BBQ areas within the park are great options if you’re keen to cook closer to home. There’s a well stocked Foodworks in the town of Eildon if you need some extra provisions.
Lake Eildon is a hub for outdoor activities and exploring nature, with plenty of opportunities to get out and enjoy the fresh air. The surrounding Lake Eildon National Park features a variety of walking trails, including the Blowhard Spur Track, which offers sweeping views of the lake and its surroundings.
There is, of course, plenty to do on the water as well. Boating is a popular choice, whether you’re just keen on a casual cruise and explore or prefer to dial up the adrenalin with some water skiing or wakeboarding. Fishing enthusiasts can try their luck catching trout, Murray cod or redfin, while kayakers and swimmers can enjoy the lake’s peaceful, sheltered bays.
If you’re keen on a dip but don’t want to move too far, there’s also a great swimming pool within the park. Entertainment within the park doesn’t end there, you’ll also find a playground, jumping pillow and games room.
There isn’t much within walking distance of the park, so be prepared to hop in the car or jump on a bike if you want to get into town, located 4km up the road.
