Eating & Drinking

Head into town for your morning coffee at Staple Eatery & Deli. It’s a local favourite with excellent coffee and nourishing breakfast options. Roughly a 2km walk or 3 minute drive, we make it a daily ritual before kicking off a day on the Bellarine exploring.

For a great bistro-style lunch on the waterfront, Pier St Cafe is hard to beat. The lunch menu (12pm-3pm) is perfect for everyone. Those who are just a bit peckish can feast on a sourdough toastie, those who want to settle in for a full meal and glass of wine can sample the delicious prawn linguine.

A great dinner option is Portarlington Kitchen & Bar which delivers a modern bistro feel with an emphasis on local Bellarine produce and seafood. We sat and lapped up every minute of the coastal atmosphere before tucking into the chef’s special that night which happened to be local Port Arlington Mussels in Napoli sauce. If you feel like venturing just a little further, Bennett’s on Bellarine is only a 10 minute drive away. Their cellar door is open on weekends and pairs wood-fired pizzas and platters with estate-grown wines, often accompanied by live music. It’s relaxed, scenic, and has that signature Bellarine charm.

Of course, you’ve also got the option to self-cater. The Park has a fully equipped camp kitchen and BBQs, making it easy to put together a meal without leaving the grounds.

To Do List

Staying at Dylene means relaxation to the max and you do not need to leave the park to feel like you’re properly on holiday. Start with a dip in the indoor heated pool, or let the kids run wild on the mini golf course and playground while you ease into the day.

From the park it’s a short walk to the foreshore, where you can stroll along the beach, dip your toes in the bay, or watch the fishing boats come and go from the pier. The views stretch all the way across Port Phillip Bay, and on a clear day you can spot Melbourne on the horizon. It’s simple but beautiful, and the perfect reminder you’re on the Bellarine.

The Bellarine Peninsula has quietly become one of Victoria’s most exciting wine regions. Within minutes of the park you’ll find cellar doors like Bennett’s on Bellarine (mentioned above), Terindah Estate, and Jack Rabbit Vineyard. Each has its own vibe - from sweeping coastal views to long lunches with wood-fired pizzas and local produce.

Heads Up

Bring bikes if you can -  the ride from the park along the foreshore is flat and scenic, making it an easy way to explore Portarlington at your own pace.
