Eating & Drinking

If you're chasing a great cup of coffee, we recommend starting your day with a visit to Bean Culture Coffee Roasters in nearby Mitchell. This local favourite takes their roasting seriously, and it shows in every cup. Whether you’re after a smooth flat white or a batch-brewed filter, they’ve got your caffeine needs sorted. Grab a pastry while you’re there - they’re some of the best in the region.

For a relaxed, walkable option that doesn’t skimp on charm, Eaglehawk Hotel is your go-to. Open seven days a week and just a short stroll from the park, this country-style pub dishes up hearty bistro classics in a laid-back setting. Think schnitzels, burgers, steaks, and weekly specials that hit the spot after a big day exploring.

If you’re in the mood for something with a bit more buzz, head into Braddon and grab a table at Lazy Su. This lively spot blends Korean, Japanese and American influences into fun, flavour-packed dishes - try the wagyu cheesesteak spring rolls or the crispy pork belly bao. Book ahead if you’re planning to visit on a weekend.

If you’d prefer to self-cater, the park features a communal Camp Kitchen and BBQ area, with all the basics you’ll need to cook up your own meals. There’s a service station on site for basics but you’ll need to head into Canberra’s suburbs for groceries.

To Do List

Eaglehawk Park Canberra serves as an excellent base to explore the myriad attractions of the region:

Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary: Just a 10-minute drive away, this sanctuary offers guided twilight tours where you can witness native wildlife in their natural habitat.

Mount Ainslie Lookout: Approximately 15 minutes by car, this lookout provides panoramic views of Canberra and is a great spot for photography enthusiasts.

Australian War Memorial: A 20-minute drive will take you to this iconic site, offering a deep insight into Australia's military history.

Tulip Top Gardens: Located about 6.3 km away, these gardens are a beautiful sight during the spring season, showcasing a vibrant array of tulips and other seasonal flowers. Open every September and October.

Heads Up

Eaglehawk is amazingly peaceful given it’s just a short drive from Canberra's city centre but it’s worth knowing you’re technically across the state border in NSW. This means it is also outside the rideshare zone for Canberra. We’ve found it’s easiest to have your own vehicle to explore the region.

Pet Friendly

Pets are not permitted. Exceptions made for Service Animals but please contact the Park to confirm prior to booking.
