Set in the old Renmark Firestation, Arrosto Coffee is a coffee roastery and cafe that is our go-to spot in the morning. Their famous cold brew coffee is a must try (particularly on a hot day), and they also serve up a range of snacks as well as their famous breakfast burgers.
On a sprawling site overlooking the river, you'll find The Renmark Club - a great spot for lunch, dinner or an afternoon drink in between. The bistro menu serves up a range of counter-meal classics as well as delicious pizzas and a great kids menu. There’s also a kids club within the venue which will keep little ones entertained.
If you’re looking for something a bit more elevated than a counter meal, check out Temperance Restaurant, located at Hotel Renmark. It is a farm-to-table restaurant with a heavy focus on the delicious produce of the local region. Whilst the cuisine here leans toward the ‘fine dining’ end of the restaurant spectrum, prices aren’t over the top. There’s a three course set menu available for $60, or the seven course chiefs tasting menu is $90.
It’s worth hopping in the car to explore the produce of the local region, highlighted by local orchards and farm gates. Many of these can be visited, where you’ll sample fresh citrus, nuts, and other produce that thrive in the district’s fertile soils.
Renmark, founded in 1887 as Australia’s first irrigation settlement, sits at the heart of the Riverland region with the mighty Murray River flowing through its centre. For a taste of the town’s river heritage, head to the historic PS Industry for a paddle steamer cruise, or simply stroll along the riverfront to soak up the tranquil scenery.
If you’re craving a bit more adventure, hire a kayak or stand-up paddleboard to explore peaceful backwaters teeming with birdlife, or get the adrenaline going by heading out for a water skiing or wakeboarding session - both very popular in the region. If you’re not travelling with a boat, you can hire one from the team at Riverland Boat Hire. There are Pontoon Boats which are perfect for slowly exploring the local waterways (and don’t require a boat license) as well as tinnies and ski boats for those looking for something a bit more serious, note that hiring either of these will require a valid boat license.
If you want to remain on land, bike enthusiasts will enjoy the scenic trails winding through riverside parks, while leisurely walkers can take in sunset views along the paths that meander along the water’s edge.
Whilst the park is only located about 3km from the township of Renmark, the journey in is along a Highway so it is one you’ll need to hop into the car to make.
