Eating & Drinking

Start your day down on the Esplanade at Albert & Co, a stylish café that’s become a local institution for breakfast and lunch. The space has a relaxed coastal vibe, great coffee, and a menu full of favourites — but if you’re into baked eggs, theirs are among the best you’ll find anywhere along the coast.

When you’re ready for something a little more special, book a table at Sodafish. Set aboard a refurbished ferry floating on the water, it’s one of the most memorable dining experiences in Lakes Entrance. The focus is on fresh, locally caught seafood — think oysters, fish tacos and daily specials paired with local wines — all served with a view that does the talking.

If you’d rather keep things casual, the park makes self-catering easy. There’s a well-equipped Camp Kitchen, plenty of BBQs, and shaded picnic areas where you can throw something on the grill or enjoy a meal outdoors. With supermarkets just a short drive away, it’s easy to pick up supplies and make the most of the relaxed, home-away-from-home setup.

To Do List

With the Gippsland Lakes at your doorstep, you’re perfectly placed to explore one of Victoria’s most beautiful coastal regions. Lakes Entrance is defined by its unique system of inland waterways that weave between the lakes and flow out to the ocean, creating spectacular scenery and endless ways to get out on the water.

For a classic beach day, make the 5 minute drive from the park to Eastern Beach — it’s patrolled during school holidays and peak periods, and ideal for both swimming and surfing. Back at the park, the swimming pool offers an easy alternative for cooling off, complete with plenty of space to relax in the sun or enjoy a quiet read beside the water.

Fishing enthusiasts are well catered for here too, with Bream, Flathead and Mullet commonly caught around the jetties and lake edges. You’ll find several good spots along the Esplanade where you can cast a line.

When you’re ready for something different, stop by the Griffiths Sea Shell Museum and Marine Display — a long-time local favourite filled with thousands of shells, marine artefacts and quirky ocean curiosities. It’s a fun way to learn more about the local sea life and makes for a great rainy-day activity.

Heads Up

Pack your clubs, the golf course is practically around the corner and has some of the best coastal views you’ll find on any fairway in Victoria.
