Eat & Drink
Black Drop Coffee is our favourite sport for a morning brew, conveniently located just 250m behind the park. They frequently run pop up events in the evenings with some great food centred around a specific theme so be sure to ask the team what is coming up during your stay when you pop in for a coffee. Local restaurant Pipit is a destination for foodies throughout Australia with a modern take on fine dining driven by local produce. We generally save visits here for special occasions as it’s a 5-Course Set Menu at $155 per head and you’ll need to book ahead. On Monday’s however, the restaurant operates a more accessible “Bistro” menu that is no less tasty, think Main Courses for $30-$40 that are no less delicious than what you would eat here on another night. A beach holiday never feels right without at least one night enjoying some Fish and Chips, and you’ll have to choose between our two favourites that are both located near each other - Okky and Hooked On Seafood. If you’re keen to cook at the park (perhaps something you’ve caught that day), whilst the Camp Kitchen is great don’t miss out on the BBQ area located past cabins on the beach side of the park.
To Do List
The park is located directly on Mooball Creek, a body of water that extends from the Northern Rivers system. Just beyond the park it feeds out to the ocean at Pottsville Beach. All this means there’s plenty of great water activities to be done, whether you prefer the surf or the calmer waters of the creek. We recommend exploring the creek and nearby river system on kayak or SUP. If you’re in the mood to cast a line you’re in the right place, with plenty of flathead to be caught directly out the front of the park. Held on the first and third Sundays of each month, the Pottsville Markets are well worth a visit to browse local crafts, buy fresh produce, and enjoy a variety of ready-to-eat food from local vendors. If it’s a rainy day or you’re just looking to see something different, you’ll find major tourist towns of the Gold Coast just 30 minutes drive north or Byron Bay just 30 minutes drive south.
Heads Up
Though all Sites are powered, smaller Sites are designated as “Tent Only”. Be sure to check before finalising your booking. Whilst the park is very close to the border, it is located in NSW so be sure to remember this when thinking about Check In and Check Out times due to the time difference during Eastern Daylight Saving Time.
