Eat & Drink
First thing most mornings you’ll find us making the 5-10 minute walk down the road to Kennedy’s, our go-to spot for a morning coffee and something to eat. Whether you’re just after a delicious pastry or cake to go with your coffee (we’re big fans of the Cinnamon Scrolls), or something more substantial, the team here have you covered. The best Fish and Chips in the area is found at Get Hooked, takeaway is always an option but we enjoy eating ours on the tables out the front and taking in the river views. Many will recommend the short drive into the Gold Coast region to explore its thriving drinking and dining scene. Our favourite spot is Burleigh Heads - check out our Burleigh Heads Destination Guide to learn more. Within the park you’ll find a well stocked, undercover Camp Kitchen with plenty of seating space.
To Do List
The Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is always a hit with guests of all ages, and conveniently located a short 10 minute drive away. Here you’ll be able to get up close and personal with animals ranging from native favourites like Emus and Echidnas through to the Himalayan Red Panda. Importantly, the sanctuary has a big emphasis on Wildlife Conservation and offers plenty of opportunities for visitors to learn more about these important initiatives. The pool at the park will more than likely be frequently visited when you’re in need of a dip in this warm climate, however you should also prioritise getting to one of the many beautiful beaches along this stretch of coastline. If you’re wanting to surf, you can’t miss the world famous Snapper Rocks beach located about 5 km away. Just over from Snapper Rocks you’ll find the less well known Duranbah Beach which is also great for a surf but a beautiful spot for a swim too. Stay between the flags as rips can occur here.
Heads Up
Located almost right on the border with Queensland, if you are here during the period of the year where NSW switches to Daylight Savings Time be sure to double check timings for any plans you have that are on the other side of the border.
