Eating & Drinking

Nest Cafe is our go to spot for a morning coffee and more often than not, something delicious from their classic all-day breakfast menu. It’s hard to go past the Eggs Benny but we’re also partial to a Bacon & Egg Roll if we are on the go.

Directly across the road from the park you’ll find Benchmark On Booner, a popular spot at all hours of the day but one we particularly love to visit in the evenings. Their menu consists of elevated bistro classics as well as a selection of steaks, burgers and pizzas. It’s open daily from 8am to 10pm so is always a good option.

There’s several additional options if you make the short 3km journey across the bridge to the town of Tea Gardens. Sitting out on the deck overlooking the river at Mumm’s On The Myall is always a great time, or if we are looking for some quick takeaway our go to fish and chips in the area is Hook N Cook, also in Tea Gardens.

To Do List

Directly out the front of the park you’ll find Hawks Nest beach (also known as Bennetts Beach). It’s a long stretch of coastline and is patrolled from September through to April toward the southern end, conveniently near your accommodation.

For calmer waters, on the opposite side of town to the beach you’ll find the Myall River, a popular spot for kayak and stand up paddleboard enthusiasts. If you haven’t got your own gear but are keen to get out on the river, Ezy Kayaks is a nearby spot with several hire options. Whether you’ve got a boat and are keen to get out on the ocean or enjoy the simplicity of casting a line from the beach, there’s plenty of options for those who like to fish in this area.

Whilst we’re thinking about classic holiday activities, directly next door to the park you’ll find Hawks Nest Golf Club, a superbly maintained 18-hole championship course that is open to visitors.

Heads Up

Whilst Hawks Nest is a great spot, don’t forget to head over the bridge and explore the nearby town of Tea Gardens.
