ParkBooker Pick
There’s a focus on Glamping here and whilst we love the luxury of the fully self-contained Safari Tents, there’s something particularly nice about the Bell Tents that whilst still offering plenty of little luxuries do feel a bit more like camping. Unlike the Safari Tents these do not come with their own Ensuites or access to running water (though there’s great communal facilities nearby), but they do have a little kitchenette which will make your stay more comfortable and includes a pod coffee machine, microwave, kettle and cutlery and crockery.
Pricing
Unpowered Sites from $24 per night, Powered Sites from $33 per night, Glamping from $104 per night

Eat & Drink
A wander into the small lot of shops located in the town centre to grab a takeaway coffee and perhaps something to eat is a great way to start the day, and our pick of coffee spots is Swims East Coast Coffee. They’re open daily from 7am and serve up the best coffee in town as well as a limited menu, we can never go past the Ham and Cheese Toastie. The Rivermouth Cafe is a great spot to dine in and enjoy their expansive deck with ocean views, but also our favourite for takeaway fish and chips. It’s a great spot to go for an afternoon cuppa and to enjoy one of their delicious homemade sweet treats. Roughly 45 minutes drive South you’ll find the Farm Shed East Coast Wine Centre. It’s a great starting point to learn about and taste a variety of fantastic wines from this region and then choose where you might like to visit. If you’re keen to make the most of the beautiful location of the park and cook there, there’s several great BBQ areas and all Glamping accommodation includes kitchenettes with the Safari Tents also including private BBQs.
To Do List
Enjoying the natural beauty of the area is the perfect To Do List filler here and with how relaxing the park is, we often find ourselves not drifting too much further away than a short walk. If we do get in the car, about 40 minutes drive south you’ll find Bicheno, a quaint town that is one of the most picturesque in Tasmania thanks to its turquoise blue waters and unique position set between the Douglas-Apsley National Park and Freycinet National Park. Both parks have several fantastic trails and are well worth a visit to. There’s a rugged beach directly out the front of the park which is great for a dip or a surf. If you are swimming, we'd encourage you to stay in the shallows unless you’re a strong swimmer as this beach isn’t patrolled. For those looking to fish, this is an area known for its bream which are plentiful in the Scamander river, hop into a boat if you can or if not, fish off the bridge.
Heads Up
Whilst this park has a distinct focus on its Glamping options, there are several great Powered Sites and Unpowered Sites so don’t be afraid to book if you’re coming with your caravan, motorhome or tent.
