Your guide to this area
Eating & Drinking
The Park offers a spacious camp kitchen, multiple BBQ areas, and a kiosk at reception stocked with essentials, ice creams, gas, soft drinks, and tourist information.
For a great coffee and some breakfast, our favourite place is The Bell House in Tamworth (10 mins drive from the Park). It’s a charming garden cafe inside a restored old church.
Hissy Fits Cafe is also a solid choice with a retro-style interior, standout coffee blends and a delicious egg and bacon burger.
Only a few minutes’ drive from the Park is the Longyard Hotel. It’s a classic country pub with usual pub fare, large TVs for sport-watching and a vast outdoor deck with seating and pool table. Making it even more inviting is the calibre of live music talent on show regularly.
We were lucky enough to sample something a little bit special at The Fig & Olive. They serve up contemporary Australian cuisine, wonderfully presented and in a beautiful red brick building. The locals flock here on Sundays for the Roast. It’s a little bit out of town but this high-regarded family restaurant is worth the extra drive.
To Do List
At the Park, you can unwind with a dip in the swimming pool, let the kids burn energy on the playground, or fire up one of the BBQs for a relaxed evening meal under the stars.
If you’re here in January, the Tamworth Country Music Festival is unmissable. The streets come alive with live music, street performances, and over 2,800 scheduled events. While you’re in town, make time for the Big Golden Guitar Tourist Centre, one of Australia’s most photographed icons. Pop inside to explore the Country Music Museum and local gift shop.
Outside festival time, you can still dive into Tamworth’s music heritage at the Australian Country Music Hall of Fame. The Walk a Country Mile exhibition tells the story of and inception of Tamworth as the Country Music Capital.
The Tamworth Marsupial Park & Adventure Playground is a favourite for families, combining native animal encounters with a large adventure play space. Entry is completely free for everyone.
Just a short drive from the park, the Oxley Scenic Lookout delivers panoramic views over the Peel Valley, spectacular at sunrise or sunset. For a day trip, Warrabah National Park offers riverside picnic spots, walking tracks, and swimming holes surrounded by granite outcrops.
Heads Up
Despite being on the edge of a major regional centre in Tamworth, the Park is extremely peaceful and spacious. Previous guests have raved about the country-retreat vibe of the Park.
Pet Friendly
Dogs are welcome year-round on all Sites and in selected Cabins.
