Your guide to this area

Eating & Drinking

This is a particularly secluded spot, so as a starting point we recommend coming prepared with plenty of provisions! When you’re ready to cook up at the park, there’s several communal facilities available include two BBQ sheds and a Camp Kitchen. We love that the BBQs are undercover which means hassle free cooking year round.

If you’re happy to jump in the car for 20 minutes to find a few eating and drinking out options, head to the quaint nearby town of Yarram. There’s several cafes here and we can’t split The Bean Pedlar and Federal Coffee Palace as our top recommendation. The Yarram Bakery Cafe is a local favourite for good reason, serving up all your country bakery classics including of course some delicious pies. If you have a sweet tooth, the Baked Cheesecake is a favourite of ours. The Commercial Hotel serves up quality bistro classics 7 days a week, there's a great sense of history about it having been founded in 1850.

To Do List

We come here to connect with nature and whether that is via a more challenging hike or simply sitting by the river, there’s plenty of options to choose from. There’s several stunning waterfalls in the area, accessed by walking tracks of various levels of challenge. Cyathea Falls is a favourite of ours, and the walk up there from the picnic area car park is roughly 1km and not overly challenging.

For something more challenging, the Grand Strzelecki Track is a collection of walking tracks and trails in the area spanning a total of 93km. This can be attacked in various increments but if you are looking to cover a decent portion of it this will mean multiple days and camping. Use the Holiday Park as a base to get going before or a place to relax following. You might spot a Lyrebird on your adventures - there’s several that make this area home.

The park itself is situated on a beautiful portion of the Tarra River, we love taking one of our chairs down, sitting by the river and enjoying a good book as the peaceful sounds of nature babble away in the background.
