The township of Tailem Bend is about a 20 minute walk or less than 5 minute drive from the Holiday Park and here you’ll find a few options. For a morning coffee and something to eat, we like to head to the Tailem Bend Bakery. Like many country bakeries it is of course equally great at lunch with a delicious range of pies and sausage rolls on offer.
Situated with a deck perched over the Murray River, the Riverside Hotel is a great spot for a quiet drink and watching the world go by or for a counter-meal where you’ll find a menu full of bistro classics at lunch and dinner.
For a few more eating out options, make a 20-minute drive in the opposite direction to town as you leave the Park and you’ll get to the town of Murray Bridge.
If you’re not wanting to get too far away from the park, there’s an Ampol Roadhouse at the end of the driveway which does dine in and takeaway meals. Within the park, you’ll find both BBQs and a Camp Kitchen as well as plenty of space to find a spot to enjoy your meal.
Tailem Bend has had a long association with motorsport and The Bend Motorsport Park is a must visit for anyone interested in any type of car racing. There’s frequent races, or you can get out on the track yourself through a dedicated track day on Go-Karting which runs daily. If you prefer your motorsport off the track, you’ll also find a dedicated Rally and Offroad track as well as a 4WD Adventure Park.
For a change of pace, make the 30 minute drive to nearby Lake Albert & Lake Alexandrina, famous as the “Pink Lakes” of the area which take on this shade of colour due to specific algae and bacteria. The lake changes hue depending on weather conditions and is at its most vibrant after consistent dry and hot conditions.
Sitting on the banks of the Murray River and with easy access to a private boat ramp that is only accessible to guests, this is the perfect accommodation for boating, waterskiing and wakeboarding enthusiasts. If you prefer your on-water activities without an engine, it’s also a great spot for fishing or getting out on a kayak or SUP. There’s a dedicated kayak area which means you can stay out of the way of any motorboats.
Note that this park does not operate a reception desk, instead dedicating their resources to creating the best possible property for guests. Check in is self-service with access codes messaged to you on the day of your arrival.
Check In is 11am and Check Out is 10am for all accommodation.
Pet friendly year round on Sites and selected Cabins & Villas, additional fees apply.
