Eating & Drinking

It goes without saying that thanks to your Barossa Valley location you are spoiled for choice when it comes to eating and drinking. Of course wine is at the forefront of this iconic region, but there is plenty more to discover.

After getting your day started with coffee and breakfast made with the delicious complimentary provisions in your cottage, set yourself up for a day of wine tasting. There’s over 80 cellar doors to visit in the region, but we’ll try to keep our list of recommendations short!

Seppeltsfield offers a range of interesting experiences beyond your standard cellar door wine tasting. A highlight is the ‘birth year port’ tour, where you get the chance to taste one of their famous fortified wines straight from the barrel, with vintages from every year all the way back to 1878.

Chateau Yaldara is a stunning property, highlighted by a French chateau style central building and with rolling lawns and stunning gardens surrounding it. It’s a great spot to just relax and enjoy a drink on the grass and take in the beautiful surroundings.

St Hugo is a world famous vineyard and home to one of our favourite restaurants in the region. Both set menu and a la carte options are available, with cuisine driven by seasonality, local produce and the on-premises kitchen garden.

There’s several great bars and restaurants that aren’t housed in wineries. We love the flavour packed South East Asian cuisine on offer at fermentAsian, a restaurant set in a classic stone house. You can’t go wrong with the Pork Belly. When we feel like a drink that isn’t wine, Bar:Musque is a favourite, with over 450 gins to choose from and an inventive list of cocktails. If you’re looking for great coffee and brunch, Vino Lokal is your go to.

To Do List

There’s more to the Barossa than just eating and drinking, although it is of course a highlight! The Barossa is a vast area and looks incredible from above, with several options ranging from helicopter tours to hot air balloons. Speak to the team at Barossa Helicopters or Barossa Valley Balloons to arrange your tour.

If you’re keen to relax, there’s plenty of great options ranging from Yoga in the vines through to several day spas in the area. Our favourite is Third Space Float & Wellness Studio who offer both massages and float therapy, a relaxation technique where you lie in a float pod filled with skin-temperature water saturated with magnesium sulphate (Epsom salts) that increases buoyancy, making you feel effortlessly weightless.

Across the townships of Tanunda, Angaston and Nuriootpa there’s a significant amount of history to explore. As you wander through these towns, you’ll spot historic stone buildings, and churches that hint at the region’s Lutheran heritage.
