ParkBooker Pick

The recently constructed “Glamorous Glamping Tents” are a show-stopper and one of the best examples of Glamping style accommodation we’ve come across. Inside is a Queen Bed, Bunk Beds and well appointed kitchen, but you’ll more than likely find yourself spending plenty of time on your own private deck that includes a BBQ, fire pit and beautiful clawfoot bath. One thing we particularly love is that the Glamping Tents are set up in their own landscaped area surrounding a beautiful pond that is accessed by a security gate and only accessible to people staying in the Glamping Tents, adding to the sense of your own private oasis.

Eat & Drink

A 15-minute walk over the bridge and you’ll find yourself in the heart of St Helen’s township where most of the food and beverage options are. For morning coffee and brunch, head to Life Buoy Cafe, you’ll find all the usual suspects on the menu here but if you’re a fan of salmon then go for the Omelette which comes with locally caught smoked salmon. 30-minutes drive inland and you’ll find the well named Pub In The Paddock, also known as the St. Columba Falls Hotel. This beautiful pub is one of the oldest in Australia and located amongst rolling green hills. Expect friendly hospitality, cold drinks and classic pub fare. For a special occasion, Furneaux Restaurant & Comptoir is the place to go - with a menu dominated by French classics with a Modern Australian twist. The Wine and Herb Marinated Duck confit is superb. Some of the best wine in Australia is made in Tasmania and one of our favourites is an extremely convenient 10 minute drive away from the park, Priory Ridge Wines. Their Cellar Door is located in a restored 1900s shearing shed and well worth a visit to taste and buy their wines, the Pinot Noir is particularly good. You’ll need to phone ahead to organise a tasting. If you’re passionate about your wines or simply keen to learn more, the “Farm Shed” East Coast Wine Centre is about an hour drive south and the perfect place to learn all about the wines of this region from the friendly and knowledgeable team. They offer tastings and sales of more than 90 wines from 24 local vineyards.

To Do List

30 minutes drive away you’ll find the incredible Bay Of Fires, named for the fact its pristine white beaches with turquoise waters meet granite rocks with a distinct fiery orange colour. This is a place of incredible natural beauty and there’s options to explore by foot or bike or simply set up on the sand and enjoy a day at the beach. If you want to get the most out of your visit, we highly recommend joining a tour and the team at Bay Of Fires Eco Tours are world class. The tour takes place on a boat that explores the coast, expect to learn plenty about the history of the region whilst exploring all the natural beauty and encountering various bird and marine life along the way. There’s several bike trails and hiking trails dotted around this region, if you’re on foot we highly recommend the 4.7 km return Mount Victoria Summit Trail which has some spectacular views. St Helen’s is a well known fishing spot and you’ll find squid, trevally and Australian eastern salmon all fishing off the beach.

Heads Up

The park is located on the other side of the bridge that crosses beauty bay from the township of St Helens, which makes for a beautiful quiet location. The town itself isn’t that far away either, if you’re on foot it won’t take longer than 15-20 minutes to walk there, and it’s a particularly easy journey to make by bike which you can hire from reception at the park.
