There’s a few different options when it comes to your morning coffee and our favourite is a short walk away at the northern end of the park, Longboat Cafe. The coffee here is the best in town and food wise they have both takeaway and dine in options - if dining in, we can’t go past the Eggs Benedict.

For some additional dining out options, you’re best to make the short drive (less than 5 minutes) over to the neighbouring beach of Shoal Bay. There’s plenty of options here, but our two favourites are Atmos at the Shoal Bay Country Club for delicious modern greek fare, or the LIttle Beach Boathouse with a seafood driven menu and unbeatable views looking out over the ocean. 

If you’re staying within the park there’s a well stocked Camp Kitchen and multiple BBQs available for you to cook up a storm. 

The Tomaree Head Summit Walk is a must for anyone who loves breathtaking coastal views. This 2.2km return walk takes you to the summit of Tomaree Head, where you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views over the surrounding coastline. The track is steep in sections but well worth the effort, and there are plenty of rest stops along the way. If you’re visiting during migration season (May to November), it’s also one of the best vantage points for spotting whales.

This area is home to some of the very best beaches in Australia (and by continuation of that - the world). One of our favourites is directly across the road from the park - Fingal Bay Beach. The northern end of the beach is sheltered and perfect for families, with gentle waves and plenty of space for kids to play. The southern end, closer to the headland, offers stronger surf breaks, making it popular with experienced surfers. The beach is patrolled during peak seasons, providing extra peace of mind for swimmers.

If you’re keen on a dip but not so keen on the ocean, there’s a fantastic resort-style swimming pool located within the park. The fun at your accommodation doesn’t end there, with a long list of facilities also including a playground, games room and tennis courts available for hire. 

There’s a small IGA located just 350m from the Park which should have all you need provisions wise, but if there’s something missing then we suggest making the 10 minute drive over to Woolworths in Nelson Bay.
