Often overlooked for its bigger named neighbours or considered to be a place that you pass through or stop for provisions, Ballina is a great spot in its own right when it comes to all things food and beverage.
Our go-to for a morning coffee is Double Shot on Brighton, located just a short walk away and serving up quality coffee as well as healthy smoothies and juices. If you’re after a more speciality coffee experience, a short drive away in Ballina main you’ll find Old Quarter Coffee, a roastery and cafe that is uniquely placed as the only specialty coffee roastery in Australia that sources 100% Southeast Asian green coffee beans direct from farmers.
A rising star in the pumping craft brewing scene of the region, Seven Mile Brewing Company is a great spot to visit and enjoy a range of interesting beers whilst indulging in food from rotating food trucks visiting the brewery.
Directly next door to the park you’ll find the Shaws Bay Hotel, a classic pub serving up cold beers and consistent counter meals overlooking the water which can’t be beaten when it comes to convenience.
If you’re travelling with bikes, Ballina is an ideal place to get them out and explore with extensive cycling trails in the area. Our favourite is the coastal trail which stretches 13 km on a sealed bitumen shared path up to nearby Lennox Head and features beautiful views over the water in one direction and across lush green rainforest in the other.
For those with golfers in their group, don’t miss a round at the nearby Ballina Golf & Sports Club, a tree lined 18 hole course that wraps its way around the beautiful North Creek.
If it’s a rainy day (or you’re a history buff), head to the Ballina Naval & Maritime Museum for some interesting insights into local maritime history and particularly the Royal Australian Navy which has had close ties to Ballina throughout the 20th century.
If you’re booking a Premium Powered Site, note the differentiation of “Waterview” and “Waterfront” sites. Both are located on a street within the Park that sits on the water, however the “Waterfront” sites are located on the water side and “Waterview” sites the other site. Both are great options.
