Eat & Drink
Bay Press Cafe is our go to spot for a morning coffee, located about ten minutes walk away from the park in the main township of Tin Can Bay. You’ll find all the breakfast classics on their menu, and the eggs benedict is a favourite of many locals and tourists alike. If you’re wanting something lighter to go with your coffee, make the short walk to the nearby Tin Can Bay Bakehouse and pick yourself up a sweet treat or pastry. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner from a picturesque location overlooking Tin Can Bay Marina, Sails Bar & Bistro is an easy choice to visit no matter what you’re feeling like or what time of day it is. We’re big fans of popping past for a relaxing afternoon drink, or a delicious wood fire pizza for lunch or dinner. Within the park itself there’s a brand new Camp Kitchen and BBQ area both of which are great for cooking up a storm and offer ample seating.
To Do List
Tin Can Bay is home to a pod of Australian Humpback Dolphins and each day at 8am a feeding session takes place out the front of the Tin Can Bay Dolphin Centre where you’ll have the chance to wade into the water with some of the team and encounter these incredible creatures. Roughly 30 minutes drive away is Rainbow Beach, an iconic stretch of coastline where coloured ancient sand dunes meet the beach nestled between K’gari (Fraser Island) and Cooloola National Park. It’s worth a visit for its incredible beauty alone, but if you’ve got the time we highly recommend stopping past the Tourist Information Centre and learning about the deep Aboriginal history that is intertwined with this area. Of course, a visit to this beautiful tropical destination would not be complete without a few swims, and the turquoise blue waters of Tin Can Bay Beach are always inviting, or if you’d like something a bit more convenient there is a great pool at the park.
Heads Up
The park does have a block of permanent Sites, however all tourist sites are grouped together meaning the holiday atmosphere is maintained.
