Eat & Drink
Whilst Gerringong has plenty to offer, it’s also worth the short drive over to Blue Swimmer Restaurant in nearby Gerroa. This fantastic cafe and restaurant is open all day, offering up fantastic breakfast and lunch meals. We particularly love the Ricotta Pancakes. Come evening time, head on over to The Hill. This stylish drinking and dining establishment has a stunning view across the coast so we highly recommend being there for sunset. Its diverse menu has something for everyone but don’t go past the tacos! For the footy (of the NRL variety) fans, a visit to Cronin’s Hotel is a must-do. Owned by league legend Mick Cronin, this pub is an ode to league history and always hosts an excited crowd on match days. If you’re after a drink or a counter meal and don’t want to travel too far, the local bowlo is just a stone's throw away, situated directly next to the park.
To Do List
Top of the list for most water lovers visiting Gerringong is the Ourie Ocean Pool, a rock pool with beautiful blue water that is set against a backdrop of cliffs and rolling green hills. Keen surfers will be happy to spend their day across the road at Werri Beach which is home to one of Australia’s most popular breaks. For those who aren’t keen surfers yet, but aspire to be, the Gerringong Surf School offers group lessons throughout the Summer holidays and private lessons year round - you’re in great hands with former professional big wave surfer Rusty Moran as founder and head coach. If you’re here from May to July whilst hopping into the water may not be high on your to do list, you may be fortunate enough to enjoy the incredible sight of whales breaching out of the ocean as they are on their migration path north. There’s a purpose-built observation platform at the top of Tasman Drive which is the best place to go to see this.
Heads Up
Whilst the park is located right on beautiful Werri Beach, the main township of Gerringong is no - you’ll find it roughly 1km away and up a bit of hill. The park has a beautiful beach front location and whilst if you bring a vehicle you’ll be very close to the beach, there are no sites with absolute beach front as this area of the park is entirely cabins.
