Blue Swimmer Restaurant, Gerroa

A classic seaside restaurant with a refined but casual offering and incredible ocean views.

First Impressions
Arriving here fills us with memories, not of this venue, but of the great holiday meals we’ve had before. Why? This restaurant just feels like a classic seaside restaurant that we've had a great meal at before. Staff are quick to welcome and seat us, and in no time we have a menu and are pouring over a range of options for our lunch, ready to settle in.

The Offering
It’s rare (particularly in regional Australia) to find a restaurant that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and even rarer to find one that does all three services this well. In this regard, Blue Swimmer is an exception, and would be our choice of restaurants in the region no matter what time of day we were visiting. Fresh, local produce is the focus here and as you’d expect in this location, the seafood dishes are particularly good. At breakfast time, you’ll find a range of classics with a twist. There’s a great beverage selection as well, with delicious coffee from Single O and a range of interesting beers, wines and cocktails (and mocktails). If we have to pick favourites, at breakfast it’s got to be the Waffles which on our most recent visit were cinnamon flavoured and served with poached pear, whipped cinnamon ricotta, macadamia granola and maple. Come lunch or dinner time, we think it’s best to take the lead from the staff and go for what they think is particularly good from the fresh produce they’ve got on that day, more often than not this will be the market fish.

You’ll Drive Back For
Quality food, great service and a beautiful view whether you’re here for breakfast, lunch, dinner or something in between. This is an iconic spot that is one of the most popular in the region for good reason.

Worth The Drive?

We’ve been making the drive here since the restaurant opened in 2016 and will continue to do so whenever we are in the area. Absolutely worth the drive.
