First Impressions
We’ve been lucky to visit before but we’re back today for lunch and as happened on our first visit, we’re immediately struck by the building. It’s a beautiful, architectural building that was first constructed in 2003 and features recycled bridge timbers & local stonework. Inside, we’re warmly greeted and seated at our table. Service is relaxed and accommodating and it’s an unpretentious atmosphere.
The Offering
The menu in the restaurant celebrates the finest in local and seasonal produce with a focus on fresh seafood, balancing tradition with a more contemporary flair. You’ll of course find local oysters on the menu and a variety of other seafood dishes sourced from the best producers both locally and further afield. Non-seafood eaters are always catered for, and at the moment there is a delicious vegetarian risotto and a mouth watering sirloin on the menu. Little ones are looked after with a simple kids menu, we encouraged ours to go for the fish and chips given the seafood specialisation of the venue. If you haven’t got the time to settle in, the team also has a takeaway shop which goes beyond a classic fish-and-chip shop to also offer a raw produce bar and of course, farm-to-plate oysters. The takeaway store also operates as a cafe, serving coffee, tea and sweet treats. If you happen to be here on a Saturday, we highly recommend joining the tour of their oyster farms where you’ll learn more about the industry in general and have the chance to taste some oysters fresh from the waters.
