Destination Guide

Bermagui, NSW

A charming coastal town known for it's iconic Blue Pool, with a great food and beverage scene that is flying under the radar.

Where To Stay In Bermagui
Like many of their other properties, Reflections Bermagui takes a prime position on the edge of the picturesque Horseshoe Bay. This is a pristine park that has a neighbourly vibe, plenty of space and well equipped facilities. Whilst there isn’t the big list of kids facilities some other parks offer, kids are very welcome here and there’s plenty of space for them to run around and enjoy themselves. Who needs a swimming pool when there is a beautiful, calm, family friendly beach just a stone’s throw away! For those staying in their caravan or motorhome, we highly recommend the Premium Powered Sites, situated at the front of the property with ocean views and concrete slabs to park on. If you’re seeking a Cabin note that there are limited numbers with ocean views, with the vast majority located at the back of the park. This is a dog friendly park year round, with up to two dogs allowed on all sites as well as selected cabins.

Where To Eat & Drink In Bermagui
One of our favourite bakeries in Australia is located in Bermagui, the famed Honorbread. This artisan bakery has been serving up delicious pastries, toasties, desserts and sandwiches since 2015 when it was spun out of the kitchen of local Italian restaurant Il Passagio when they were looking for a way to get their bread baking in front of a wider retail audience. Speaking of which, Il Passagio is well worth a visit for some delicious modern Italian food. Our recommendation is the Saffron Spaghetti with Prawns. For something a bit more casual, head to Bluewave Seafood for classic fish and chips, burgers and of course some famous local oysters.

What To Do In Bermagui
If swimming in stunning water is high on your holiday hit list, you’ve come to the right place. The still turquoise waters of Horseshoe Bay are one of our favourite places for a dip, or if you’re after a more dramatic scene around the edge of the point you’ll find the famous Blue Pool. One of the most iconic ocean pools in Australia, it is named for its stunning blue water situated at the bottom of a cliff.

The Essentials
No need to drive for any of the basics here, this is a well stocked town with a great grocery store, a fresh food emporium and a pharmacy.

The Drive
As always, we give you the rundown on the drive you’ll take from the three closest capital cities:

From Sydney - Straight down the coast and at just 390 km from Sydney, this is a beautiful drive that can easily be done without stops, though we feel with the amount of incredible places you go through you’d be silly no to. If we were to narrow it down to a top three, we’d recommend Gerringong, Jervis Bay and Tuross Head. All have great options to stay a few nights if you wish.

From Canberra - At 276 km this is also one that can be done without stops, an easy drive through the Snowy Valley along the Monaro Highway.

From Melbourne - A beautiful drive that starts inland then heads straight up the coast totalling 667 km. We’d highly recommend either Lakes Entrance or Mallacoota for a stop along the way, they’re lovely places to stretch your legs and take in the scenery and both have plenty to offer if you choose to stay a few nights.
