Eating & Drinking

Lucinda is a small coastal town, so dining and shopping options are limited, which is all part of the appeal. At the park, you’re well set up to self-cater with BBQ facilities and shared spaces that make it easy to cook your own meals and enjoy relaxed evenings back at your cabin or site. Many people arrive stocked with supplies and settle into the simple rhythm of coastal life here.

For basics and an easy bite, the Lucinda Store is your go-to. It’s handy for essentials and does a reliable lunch if you don’t feel like cooking, with favourites like schnitzel burgers, fish and chips and other simple takeaway options that hit the spot after a morning by the water.

If you’re chasing a pub meal, the Lucinda Hotel is the local option. Expect classic pub fare, cold beer and a friendly, no-frills atmosphere. The pizzas are a solid choice, alongside the usual pub basics, making it an easy dinner close to home.

For something a little more polished, Slipway Bar & Restaurant is the pick in town. It’s the nicest dining option in Lucinda and a good place to slow down, enjoy a proper sit-down meal and make the most of the coastal setting with views over the Channel.

If you’re after a wider range of cafes, restaurants or a full supermarket shop, nearby Ingham is the regional centre for the area. It’s the best place to stock up on supplies or enjoy more choice when it comes to eating out.

To Do List

Fishing on the Lucinda Jetty is an absolute must. Stretching almost six kilometres out into the Hinchinbrook Channel, it’s one of the longest jetties in the Southern Hemisphere and a favourite spot for locals and visitors alike. We loved heading out early or late in the day, casting a line as the light changed and the tide rolled through. Sunset on the jetty is a daily ritual.

A day trip to Hinchinbrook Island is another highlight and one of the main reasons people come to Lucinda. From nearby access points you can explore sheltered beaches, rainforest walks and crystal-clear creeks, all backed by towering mountains. Whether you’re kayaking along the shoreline or joining a guided trip, it’s a place that feels wild and wonderfully untouched.

For a change of pace, head inland to Wallaman Falls, around an hour’s drive away and home to Australia’s tallest single-drop waterfall. The walk to the lookout is well worth it, especially after rain when the falls are at their most dramatic. On the way back, stop in at TYTO Wetlands in Ingham for an easy nature walk on flat, well-maintained paths.

Heads Up

If you love being close to the water, this park really delivers. Being able to walk straight to the jetty, keep an eye on the tides, and clean your catch back at the park is the reason you’ll meet so many return visitors during your stay.
