Eating & Drinking

We think the best coffee in town is found at Pinewood, which is more often than not where you’ll find us starting our day. We’ll often also treat ourselves to something delicious from their range of sweet treats including pastries and cookies.

Sitting atop a hill overlooking Yamba Beach, the Pacific Hotel is a great spot for a drink in the afternoon, overlooking dramatic ocean scenery ahead. We wouldn’t talk you out of hanging around for a meal either, the restaurant serves up elevated bistro fare, we’ll always gravitate towards something local on the menu - last time some delicious locally caught prawns served simply with lemon and seafood sauce. Kids are well looked after here with a longer than usual Children's Menu.

Open for dinner service only on Wednesday through Sunday, Karrikin offers an ever-changing four-course set menu focused on seasonal, local produce. It’s a must-visit for anyone who travels to eat! Be sure to make a reservation ahead of time.

To Do List

You're spoiled for choice when it comes to places to go for a swim, there’s a pool at the Holiday Park or five beaches to choose from and that is just in Yamba. The most popular is Yamba Main Beach, a short walk from the park and home to the local surf club as well as the iconic Yamba Ocean Pool. If you’re travelling with little ones or just prefer your beaches a little calmer and quieter, head to Whiting Beach. It’s also the best spot if you’re going to venture out on a kayak or SUP.

One of our favourite spots for a swim is actually 10 minutes drive away in the nearby town of Angourie, the Angourie Blue and Green Pools, a pair of freshwater swimming pools located just metres from the ocean.

Nature enthusiasts can catch the ferry from Yamba to Iluka and explore the Iluka Nature Reserve, where kangaroos, koalas, and a variety of bird species roam freely. With walking trails, bird hides, and picnic areas, it’s an ideal destination for a day of wildlife watching and relaxation.

If you happen to be here on the fourth Sunday of the month then make sure you head to the Yamba River Market. You’ll find an eclectic offering here, ranging from local produce through to second-hand furniture, jewellery and more, set right on the Clarence River.

Heads Up

The riverfront location means there can be mosquitos lurking so be sure to pack your Aeroguard and a citronella candle - they’ll be out of your way in no time!
