We loved firing up the free BBQs in the undercover camp kitchen, settling in for a proper cook-up after a day on the beach.
Just 2.5 kilometres away, the Gracetown General Store is our pick for a proper coffee and local produce. Ten minutes inland in Cowaramup, grab fresh pastries and legendary cinnamon scrolls from the local bakery, or stock up on regional wines and cheese.
A 15-minute drive south into Margaret River township opens up the region's serious dining scene. Pizzica delivers pizza and charcoal-grilled dishes that taste like a flight to Italy, while The Common at Gnarabup is our go-to for coastal pub vibes, local brews on tap and weekend jazz nights. For beachside tacos and sunset beers, The Sea Garden Cafe at Prevelly has ocean views, live music and famous nachos you can devour with sandy toes.
We spent hours on-site with the kids tackling the 18-hole mini golf course, bouncing on the jumping pillow and catching movies under the stars from late September through to April. The free tennis, basketball and volleyball courts kept everyone entertained, and the communal fire pits (wood supplied) made for perfect evening hang-outs with fellow campers. Kangaroos and possums wander freely through the park at dawn and dusk, and our kids were mesmerised watching joeys peek out from their mums' pouches.
Just 2.5 kilometres west, Gracetown Beach and Cowaramup Bay offer calm, protected swimming perfect for families, with rock pools to explore and public toilets right by the sand. Surfers make a beeline for the world-class breaks at North Point, South Point and Huzzas, all within minutes of the park. The park sits on the 123-kilometre Cape to Cape Track, so we loved tackling short coastal sections for sunrise walks.
Ten minutes away, Vasse Felix and Xanadu Winery offer cellar door tastings and vineyard lunches, while The Margaret River Chocolate Company (20 minutes) is non-negotiable if you're travelling with kids or have a serious sweet tooth.
The region's famous limestone caves, including Lake Cave, Mammoth Cave and Jewel Cave, are all within a 30-minute drive.
The park is tucked 2.5km inland from Cowaramup Bay. It’s a lovely walk down but can be a brutal uphill trek back if you’re carrying a surfboard or esky. We recommend driving down to the coast.
Check In is 11am for campsites, 2pm for cabins and Check Out is 10am for all accommodation.
