You have a modern camp kitchen and undercover BBQ stations right on your doorstep, making it easy to feed the family or enjoy a quiet meal under the mountains. When you are ready to venture into town, the stroll is flat and takes about ten minutes. Your morning routine should definitely include a visit to Provisions of Arrowtown. Tucked away in a historic miner’s cottage, it is the best spot for specialty coffee and their world-famous cinnamon sticky buns.
If you are planning a special night out, Aosta is a must. This restaurant focuses on the synergy between the flavours of Northern Italy and the seasonal produce of Central Otago, offering a polished dining experience that feels both high-end and local. For a more relaxed vibe, head to Slow Cuts. They specialise in slow-cooked meats and burgers that are perfect after a long day of exploring. It is excellent value and a favourite for families. To soak up the local culture, grab a stool at The Fork and Tap. This iconic historic pub features a fantastic range of New Zealand craft beers and a charming beer garden that often has live music. It is the ideal place to relax and enjoy the unique atmosphere of the village.
You can start your morning right at the park by challenging the family to a game on the tennis court or letting the kids burn off some energy on the pedal karts. Since you are located directly on the Queenstown Trail, the best way to explore the area is on two wheels. You can hire a bike and follow the Arrow River Trail, which offers a mostly flat, scenic ride through the trees and over suspension bridges.
A short walk from your base leads you to the Arrowtown Chinese Settlement. This historic site is a quiet and moving place to wander, featuring restored stone huts that tell the story of the gold miners from the 1860s. For those who enjoy a bit of height, the drive over the Crown Range toward Wanaka is essential. It is the highest main road in New Zealand and provides incredible views of the Wakatipu Basin from the lookout at the top.
If you prefer a slower pace, the Gibbston Valley is only fifteen minutes away by car. This is the heart of Central Otago’s wine country, where you can spend an afternoon hopping between cellar doors for some of the world’s best Pinot Noir. If your visit falls on a Sunday during the warmer months, make sure you head to the Library Green for the Arrowtown Farmers Market. It is the perfect spot to pick up local artisanal products, fresh sourdough, and seasonal fruit while soaking up the village atmosphere.
Because the park is tucked right against the hills, you will find the sun disappears earlier here than in nearby Queenstown. Even in the height of summer, the temperature drops rapidly as soon as the shadows hit. Make sure you pack a quality down jacket or a thick fleece so you can keep enjoying the outdoor BBQ areas and the mountain views well into the evening without catching a chill.
Check In is 2pm and Check Out is 10am for all accommodation.
Pets are welcome on all campsites but are not allowed in cabins.
