The heart of the park’s social scene is the modern camp kitchen, a bright and well-equipped space featuring full ovens, hobs, and plenty of dining room for the family. In the warmer months, the BBQ area is the place to be, offering a classic outdoor dining experience with stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
For your morning caffeine fix, Rakau serves up great coffee from 9 am, but the real magic happens later in the day. It is an intimate, welcoming garden pizza bar specializing in wood-fired pizzas made with locally sourced ingredients from around Queenstown and Otago. While they offer easy online ordering for a night in, we recommend sitting in to soak up the friendly service and garden atmosphere.
For something truly unique, Canyon Brewing is practically on your doorstep. This micro-brewery serves up incredible wood-fired pizzas and craft beers in a relaxed, family-friendly setting with an impressive view of the Shotover River canyon. If you’re heading into Queenstown for the evening, use the park’s free courtesy shuttle to skip the parking stress. Once in town, you are spoilt for choice; for a legendary burger, join the queue at Fergburger, or for a more refined waterfront meal, head to Public Kitchen & Bar at Steamer Wharf for local produce designed to be shared.
You are perfectly positioned in Arthurs Point, Queenstown’s unofficial headquarters for adrenaline and indulgence. Within the park, the kids can burn off energy on the jumping pillow and playground, or challenge the neighbors to a game of giant chess. For a slower pace, hire a couple of e-bikes directly from the park to explore the local trails with an alpine breeze in your face.
Just a short walk away is the historic Edith Cavell Bridge, the perfect vantage point to watch the world-famous Shotover Jet spin through the narrow rock canyons below. If watching isn't enough, head down to the river to experience the jet boat thrills yourself, or opt for a white-water rafting expedition for a more immersive encounter with the Shotover’s rapids. For the ultimate leap of faith, the Shotover Canyon Swing is nearby, offering a serious vertical drop for the true thrill-seekers.
If your idea of a "canyon view" involves a glass of wine and a soak, the Onsen Hot Pools are right on your doorstep. These cedar-lined, private pools are a Queenstown essential—just be sure to book well in advance as they are incredibly popular. In the winter months, you are the closest holiday park to Coronet Peak, making it easy to be the first one on the lifts. After a day on the slopes or the river, head back to the park to unwind in the private spa or hot tub and swap stories of your day's adventures.
Parking in central Queenstown can be a nightmare. Take advantage of the park’s free courtesy shuttle, which runs several times daily — just remember to book your seat at reception as spots are limited.
