Cold Beer: 4 Craft Breweries To Visit In The Northern Rivers Region

Both a holiday hot spot and a craft brewing mecca, the Northern Rivers is an amazing place to visit for any beer lover. Here are 4 of our favourite craft breweries in the area.

We know that amongst the ParkBooker community we have quite a few Craft Beer fans, so we’re always keen to find great craft breweries that happen to be in popular holiday park destinations. The Northern Rivers of NSW is a perfect combination of holiday AND craft brewing hot spot. Here are four must visit craft breweries for your next trip there.

1. STONE & WOOD: BYRON BAY

For many, Stone & Wood is where it all started when it comes to their experience with craft beer. Of course there were many other craft breweries that came before them in Australia, but they were the first of the latest wave of break out successes in the category which led to the birth of a whole new generation of craft breweries. Visiting the brewery is easy thanks to the convenient location in Byron’s industrial estate, you can head to the tasting room and choose from a range of beers across their core and limited release ranges, as well as enjoy food from local hospitality group 100 Mile Table. There are also 90 minute brewery tours on offer for those keen to learn in a more.

Must try beer: Bypass the iconic Pacific Ale and try something different, we think the Cloudy Pale Ale is incredibly underrated

Where to find them: 100 Centennial Cct, Byron Bay NSW

2. SANCTUS BREWING COMPANY: TOWNSEND

Located in the small town of Townsend, Sanctus Brewing Company is a craft brewery and distillery churning out an impressive variety of high quality beverages. Alongside the beverages they serve up a menu of high quality food centred around wood fired pizzas and their “Just Fire” menu, a variety of dishes cooked over fire. The team offers brewery tours that are capped at ten people to keep the tour as engaging as possible. We love that you receive a complimentary beer on arrival to accompany you through the tour. Note that Sanctus is only open Thursday to Sunday.

Must try beer: Californication West Coast IPA

Where to find them: 5 Re Rd, Townsend NSW

3. SEVEN MILE BREWING COMPANY: BALLINA

Offering a core range of three beers and rotating seasonal beers, this small but mighty family owned and operated brewery located in Ballina is a rising star in the local craft brewing scene. There are rotating food trucks visiting the brewery, so be sure to check ahead what’s there on days you might visit as it could determine the day you choose - our favourite is when the team from Samburger visit, who can go past the combo of a burger and a beer?

Must try beer: Iron Peg Aussie Pale Ale

Where to find them: 188-202 Southern Cross Dr, Ballina NSW 2478

4. WANDANA BREWING CO: MULLUMBIMBY

Long been an alternative lifestyle travel hotspot, the creative vibe that flows through the hinterland town of Mullumbimby is seeing several very interesting food and beverage offerings arise, one of which is Wandana Brewing Co. In a particularly interesting twist, this brewery is the only brewery in the world who plays non-stop music to every beer they make the entire time it's in the tank, thanks to research that has proved sound vibration helps the efficiency of yeast cell growth - incredible! Their tap room and beer garden are both a great place to enjoy a beer and a bite from local food truck Sunset Eats.

Must try beer: Harmonic Lager

Where to find them: 20 Manns Rd, Mullumbimby NSW
