With its world famous beaches and stunning natural beauty the Jervis Bay area is always a popular destination for families, particularly in the warmer months of the year. Kids always love playing at the beach, but here are four more activities for your little ones.
1. GET OUT ON THE WATER IN SEARCH OF WHALES AND DOLPHINS WITH JERVIS BAY WILD CRUISES
People often visit Jervis Bay because of its reputation for spotting dolphins year round and whales during the migration season of May to November. Whilst this is always a fun activity done from a lookout point on shore, the team at Jervis Bay Wild Cruises offers you the chance to hop on board one of their comfortable boats and get up close and personal with these incredible animals out on the water. If you’re here from December to April we highly recommend joining the Dolphin Cruise as kids will love getting into the water with a boom net being set up off the back of the boat. They’ll have heaps of fun being safely dragged along in the water as the boat slowly cruises along, and you’ll most likely see dolphins swimming around in these beautiful blue waters.

2. EXPLORE CURRAMBENE CREEK ON A STAND UP PADDLE BOARD WITH JERVIS BAY STAND UP PADDLE
Stand Up Paddle boarding is a great activity for kids and adults alike, but when it comes to the younger ones it’s always preferable to be doing it in sheltered calm waters. Currambene Creek is the perfect location for this. The team at Jervis Bay Stand Up Paddle have a range of equipment for hire, but we love getting one of their “Monster SUPs” and exploring as a family on one of these giant 15 ft stand up paddle boards that fit up to 6 people on them.
Location: 1/2 Erina Rd, Huskisson NSW
3. ENJOY A MOVIE AT HUSKISSON PICTURES
This beautiful period building first constructed in 1913 was once a local community hall but is now home to a boutique cinema complex that shows the latest blockbusters and participates in various film festivals. Whether you’re looking for a rainy day activity, or simply want a break from the sun and to spend some time indoors with the air conditioning on, this is a fantastic choice. As an added bonus, it’s incredibly well priced with tickets only $12 no matter if you’re a child or adult.
Location: 19 Sydney St, Huskisson NSW
4. GET OUT IN NATURE AT THE BOODEREE BOTANIC GARDENS
As the only Aboriginal owned botanic gardens in Australia, Boodereree Botanic Gardens is not just a beautiful place to visit, but also one of historical significance. There’s 80 hectares here surrounded by bushland so to focus your visit we highly recommend sticking to one of the specific trails. Our favourite is the Koori Garden Walk where you’ll learn about the use of plants for food, medicine and technology within the Aboriginal culture. If you’re keen to settle in, you’ll also find BBQs and a sheltered picnic at the Scribbly Lawn area within the gardens.
