ParkBooker Pick
Settle in to your outback adventure with one of the larger than usual Premium Powered Sites. Whilst the Standard Powered Sites are a perfectly fine size, we prefer the Premium Category due to their location, a bit further away from the entry to the park and various facilities blocks with a great view out over the bush and mountain ranges.
Pricing
Unpowered Sites from $30 per night, Powered Sites from $38 per night, Cabins from $135 per night.

Eat & Drink
The park is set on a working cattle station that runs Dorper Lamb, a breed of sheep known for its high-quality meat, which thanks to its mild flavour and tenderness is sometimes referred to as the “wagyu of lamb”. A stay here would not be complete without the paddock-to-plate experience of trying some of the produce, and fresh Saltbush Dorper Lamb is available at the park office for purchase. Choose from a selection including loin chops, leg steaks, boneless roasts, shanks, sausages, marinated ribs, and more and cook it in your vehicle or communal facilities. The park also runs a coffee cart many mornings, but outside of these two options you’ll need to bring provisions and use the communal facilities or your own.
To Do List
This is a farm-stay, so it’s all about settling into the park and enjoying the natural surroundings. A great way to get going and explore the area is on a walking trail, there’s two to choose from - the easier Spear Creek Trail which runs for 5km, or the Deep Creek Trail that runs for 7km and also includes some tougher terrain and more hills. Whilst both are a great way to spend a day, the Deep Creek Trail is well worth the extra effort if you’re up to it, you’ll be rewarded by epic views trekking over Gorges and looking out over the upper Spencer Gulf. The park managers are always looking to innovate the experience for their guests and have historically run a few events including a Country Music Muster which we didn’t visit ourselves but heard only rave reviews about so keep an eye on what is coming up ahead of your trip by following them on Instagram. If you have a 4WD there are several tracks in the area, have a chat to the team for some advice on where to go.
Heads Up
As I’m sure you’ve understood reading everything else about this fabulous park, this is a remote stay and not the sort of place where you can quickly wander down to the shops for a coffee or to pick up supplies. There’s a well stocked kiosk on site stocking a range of Spear Creek Lamb, Local wines, Flinders gin, firewood, ice-creams and other necessities, or else you’ll need to travel roughly 30 minutes by car to Port Augusta.
