5 Little Pigs Cafe, Huskisson

Delicious coffee and high quality food that goes beyond your standard cafe fare, located in the heart of Huskisson.

First Impressions
Just up from the Huskisson Wharf you'll find this unassuming shopfront located amongst the main drag of Owen St. We wander inside and immediately notice the delicious smell of coffee in the air as we are warmly greeted by the team. There’s seating available inside but the sun's out so we grab one of the outdoor tables and soak in the view across the street over to the water whilst we browse through the menu. Whilst we’re dining in, there’s plenty of people popping in and grabbing takeaway food and coffee and heading across to enjoy their order a bit closer to the water.

The Offering
A homely but professional environment that is serving up some of the best breakfast dishes in town and more than holds its own against restaurants who position themselves as a more refined offering when it comes to lunch. Whilst there’s plenty of interesting options on the Breakfast menu, the classics are all there and despite the high quality cooking and innovative approach, this isn’t the sort of place you come to and get confused by what to order. Come lunch time the menu is slightly more limited but focused on fresh local produce. There’s a distinct Asian influence on a selection of the lunch dishes but this isn’t consistent through the menu, with their Lamb Burger (served with radicchio, tour, mint, cucumber, pickled chilli, fries) having a cult following. Drinks wise, there’s great coffee from famed south coast roasters Swell as well as a range of beer and wine on offer at Lunch.

You’ll Drive Back For
Whether you’re after great coffee and a breakfast menu that ranges from classics to a more innovative offering or top quality lunch meals with a beer or wine, 5 Little Pigs is your go-to day time venue in Huskisson.

Our Order
1 x Breaky burger with sausage, egg, cheese, onion, fermented chilli sauce

1 x Macadamia granola with summer fruits, coconut panna cotta, kaffir lime
1 x Almond flat white
1 x Iced long black
1 x Orange juice

The Drive
As always, we give you the rundown on the drive you’ll take from the three closest capital cities.

From Canberra - At just 197 km from Canberra, a quick zip along the Federal Highway and if traffic conditions are in your favour, you can get there in not long over two and a half hours.

From Sydney - A slightly longer drive at 316 km but still very doable in one day and without a stop if you choose, through Wollongong and straight down the coast. If you’re after a stop, the best towns are after Wollongong - we recommend picturesque Gerringong.

From Melbourne - There are two routes to take from Melbourne, either 829 km inland via the Victorian Alpine Region and then the Snowy Valley in NSW, or 859 km through Gippsland in Victoria then along the coast. It’s worth noting that while the latter is only slightly longer in distance, due to the roads and speed limits it is about an extra 90 minutes of drive time and includes tolls (which the inland route does not). Either way, you’ll need a stop (likely for a night or two) along the way - we recommend Beechworth on the inland route and Eden on the coastal route.
